Are you going to paint or powder coat the rack, if so what color?
Thank you.
The rack will be black. I'm thinking of spraying it with truck bed liner in a rattle can. I've had success with that stuff in the past.
Next I'm going to build a secondary rack that will mount over the top of this one but will be 24" wide and have bag supports hanging on each side. I want to have the ability to bungee a parachute bag in each side and carry a large duffel on top.
I sprayed my shop-built luggage rack with truck-bed liner. The stuff works really good as a durable black coating where paint won't hold up. $8 a can at Lowes.
About $40 in material plus the HD lockable QD latches that I had in the toolbox.

The supplemental rack is finished except paint. Super lightweight and rigid. Now I can pack a large duffel and 2 20" duffels.
The larger (unpainted) rack nests in between the stringers of the smaller black rack and attaches with six fasteners. It's all aluminum except for very few key structural parts.
Well it certainly looks up to the task - got a pic with all the duffels
loaded? Do you strap them to it? or how are they attached?
thanks!
