Thanks for the info, Gommee, what kind of rubber did you use? I'll bet some strips cut out of a used tire would work.

I like your scissor jacks. I'll bet they're really stable when extended... great lifting solution!

I have lifted my Heritage on a motorcycle jack with flat rubber pads hundreds of times with no shims to clear shocks. There is some preasure on the shocks from the jack pad, but no issues "damaging" shocks. I have done all services with no shimming with no shock issues. You will find that you will have to locate your jack, forward or back depending on what you are doing.

Thank you, Checkers! that's the answer I'm looking for, just needed verification from someone with first-hand experience.
The shock absorbers look plenty stout, can't see why they wouldn't stand up to serving as an occasional floor-jack lift point.
I mean, Harley Davidson wouldn't have located them in such a bump-prone area if they couldn't take some abuse, now would they?

I have not yet heard of anyone who had shock problems from just rolling the flat-top jack under the the frame at the shock area, and crankin' away. I haven't had any problems from this either.

The 3/4" rubber is trimmings from the floor mat that the Lo sits on. I picked up 2 -4'x8' , 3/4" rubber mats. One for the bike to sit on and the other for me to stand on in front of my work bench.

I have a center stand on my Heritage. Works great and it will allow the jack underneath, but I have never really needed it.

This is what I've done to the three Softails I've owned.Never a problem.I also leave my ride on the lift after I clean it.
