I have been looking for a swingarm bag for my 89 softail custom. I found some old post about a vendor called Garage Leathers. Their site is still active and I have exchanged a few emails with the owner. Does anybody have any recent info on this company or is there another vendor you would recommend.
I just bought and installed the Dead Creek Cycles bobber bag and bracket kit on my Slim. The bag is heavier built than other bags I have owned or seen and the solid mount system is nice. Here are a couple of pics, the bag was not buckled in the pic because I am loading up for a ride.
I have the same left side bag on my bike but I attached it with heavy tie wraps. The straps that come with it are bulky and the fasteners get in the way.
Garage Leathers makes the best looking solo bags in my opinion.... mostly because they have the best looking buckle! I went with a Leatherworks bag and I am extremely happy. The leather quality is on par with Garage Leathers but the bucle is nowhere near as nice/classic. I just thought it was a pretty hefty price to pay for a buckle so I stuck with Leatherworks. I mounted it using the Dead Creek Cycles Bobber Bracket and it's a great addition as well. There are a ton of better quality leather solo bags than what Harley will sell you. The HD leather is too thin and flimsy and it sags/droops after a short while.
