Anyway, I've had a shop inspect the frame and they have confirmed the crack is a separation of the weld to the motor mount. Technically not a cracked weld, but still, cracked frame. I also had an adjuster inspect the bike, and he confirmed that there was no crash damage, which makes sense, considering I haven't crashed the bike.

I'm taking the bike to Harley tomorrow, I guess that's today then, and drop it off for inspection. I've contacted Customer Service at the MoCo and they said to take to the dealer to be inspected.

Worst case is I'm going to be responsible for the repair. I'm hoping it's nothing a tig weld can't fix.

As far as what year the bike is, I see my signature is no longer there. It had everything and I took for granted it was there when I posted. It's a 2011 Cross Bones with 31,000 miles on the ODO.
As I said previously I could see from your pic that it looked to me like the weld for the motor mount cracked and not the frame. I wouldnt consider it a cracked frame but I think a more accurate description I think would be a failed weld. Looks like the engine might have moved a little so the other mounts need to be checked.
If it were mine I would fix it myself. If you are any good at heliarc go for it

This is basically what Harley said. It's not a cracked frame, so much as a failed weld. I had the bike at the dealer. They checked it over and took pictures and measurements. Long story short, they are going to replace the frame. Only problem is, since I'm outside of the factory warrantee, they are only going to replace the frame, I'm on the hook for the installation.

The frame has been ordered and should be in in about two weeks. They said the install will take a full day, but they'll pick the bike up at my home when the frame gets in.

In the mean time, I'm working on building a front fender. Something I've been planning for years, but have never done. I drew up a basic sketch of my thoughts. Already have the sheet metal bent and working on a wooden form of the tire.

Here you can see some light marks on the tire. Playing with the fitment, size, and location.

A rough sketch of the basic shape I'm going for and an idea for the strut that matches the wheel.

How much are they banging you for the install?

I was told a full day to install. At $95/hr It's going to be over $1k. My guess is about $2k. Nothing ever goes the way I'd expect.

Why not just weld up the crack? I'm sure a good welder could do it for $100

I was going to. The local shop offered to weld it but told me he'd rather help me with the labor and let Harley replace the frame. The mount was welded out of spec which is what they believe made the weld crack. Because of that I'd feel more comfortable replacing it too.

Wife tried to talk me into just buying a new bike instead. I looked at the fully loaded Street Glide and considered a Fat Boy. I'd rather keep my bike going though.

Good for you OP for wanting to do whatever it takes to keep "your" motorcycle. I've got two bikes, one of which I would put more money than I should to keep it going.
