Joe,
you are absolutely correct to ask why we have to have a registration on us, when they can check our license plate AND ID, its a money trap.if you don't have t, they can give you a fine. thats all.

I think its asinine that we need to keep our registration on the bike in today's world - what's the point of carrying that when we have a license plate? I'd prefer that jackasses couldn't get my address just by reading my registration on my bike. Like others, the FL registration is about as thick as 6 credit cards when folded up so I'm not carrying that in my pocket.
Anyone know why we need to carry it in today's world?
Hmmm I wonder if taking a picture of it and keeping that in my phone would suffice.....
I'm a little late to this party but I got a few of those "packing list" envelopes that stick to packages an stuck one to the inside lid of my saddlebag on my electra glide. if you have bags they work well.
I found a low cost solution. A couple of years ago I happened to ride by a smoke shop and remembered an aluminum cigar tube I had seen in the past. So, I bought one, I think for less than $5. I gave the cigar to an elderly gentleman behind me and put my papers in the tube. The papers are rolled up an secured by a spare hair tie. It's been two years and even in a couple of heavy downpours my papers have stayed dry.

Ahhh I see. But where do you keep the cigar tube???
revisiting the thread 'cause I just put my new tag on today (they renew by birth month here). I was reading the registration and it mentioned it must be kept with vehicle at all times, except motorcycles.
I don't know if that means it doesn't physically have to be on the bike, or you don't have to have it with you. anyone else in ky. noticed this? do you have to have it with you at all?
I keep mine in a ziploc in my swing arm bag. I was a truck driver for several years, and the registration for the trailers was kept in a metal tube with rubber caps. It was mounted underneath near the king pin. That way, whoever hooked up to whatever trailer would still have the registration. Maybe you could mount one to your handlebars, or swingarm or something
