I picked up a 2005 FXSTDI in Black, at the end of last season. Awesome bike but I need to customize it to meet my needs.
Most of my trips are two hours or less and I enjoy the feel of open air with a half helmet and goggles.
For trips longer than two hours, the air pushing into my chest will tire me out, so for those rare trips I would like a Windshield. It needs to be solid (no wobble), affordable and cool looking (which does not exactly fit a bar hopper design).
Since the bike is black, I was thinking of a Memphis Shade, with a tinted black bottom half and clear top but I don't know anything about the quality, fit and comfort.
Also, this may sound odd from someone who's been riding for over 20 years but outside of short shields on crotch rockets, I have zero experience with shields on a cruiser, so I can use all the tips I can get, especially on how to base the height and make it easy to remove, since it will only be used a few times a year!
I just put a windvest on my softail. Its not affordable but it fits the rest of your criteria.
LOL! I guess the term "affordable" is subjective but you are correct.
I was hoping to pick one up at $200 or less, which does limit the majority of the shields but since it will be only used a few times a year, I could not bring myself to justify going any higher!
