Can anyone give me their experience in renting a Harley? I am flying to Phoenix over the 4th of July and it seems like there are several companies offering rentals. A ride through the grand canyon sounds awesome. I currentlyhave a FB and a bagger with a shield may fit the bill.....Any bad things I should know about? Thanks all....
Call ASAP to improve your choice of rides. Be sure they get your credit card info or you might get there and be a stranger with no wheels when you show up. Also try to get pickup/drop off times reconciled on first call so you can plan around them. John
Get the renters insurance. It's $20 a day. If ANYTHING happens to the bike (armadillo runs out in front of you, it gets stolen) YOU are off the hook. Otherwise, YOU get to pay the bill. Go for a bagger. You need a place to put stuff. Weather can be unpredictable. If there is a lady on the back... YOU MUST GET SOMETHING WITH SOME BACK SUPPORT!!! I CAN'T stress that enough. We rented a SG for 4 days. Great bike and ride. Wife is used to my Ultra. Skinny passenger seat and no backrest lead to a VERY unhappy passenger!
I've rented from Eagle Rider a couple of times in L.A., and it's always been a good experience. Buy the extra insurance., Last thing you want is to be on the hook for 20 grand if something goes wrong.
Like they said get the extra insurance. Our local dealer is awesome to deal with when renting. Out here you just have to have a $2,000 line of credit to be able to rent, so any credit card with at least a $2,000 amount of credit line on it works. They even give you a helmet and rain gear at our dealer. My buddy just rented a street glide and it only had 4 miles on it.
Rented a Road Glide in Cabo San Lucas. Had a great time and will do it again. Will be renting a Fat Boy in Knoxville in a couple of weeks for a ride through the Dragon's Tail and Gatlinburg. My advise is to call early to get the best choice and just go for it. Great way to check out the sights.
I am a trucker and have rented harleys all over the country it's expensive but worth it... every bike I currently own I had rented a version of it prior to buying so it's a great way to check out the different models
I just got back fromPhoenix and rented a Duece from Top Spoke Rentals, which is part of Hacienda Harley in Scottsdale. Very good experience and they will give a 10% HOG discount ($112.50 plus insurance). Access them or any other dealer in the area from the Experience section of the Harley website. The guy who runs the operation is a good person to deal with.
Amen on the rentals......I've rented from H-Dealers and Eagle Rider......all great experiences !! All have been helpful and even will recommend rides and have maps of popular routes in the area they service.
