Good call on the air cleaner. Anything beats the dreaded football AC cover!

I think he said he bought it as a demo bike with about 7000+ km on it.

Sharp bike and that exhaust "fits" the bike well

haha, yes, but I bought it with 7100 on it. so it was 1400 in 6 weeks.

yeah, not a fan of it, though it looks better on the bike than the stock pipes did

precisely! and thanks, i'm pretty happy with the pipes, they are just WAY louder than I was hoping for. so much for taking it on a date in the middle of the night haha

I went with the FP3, after the research I did, and finding that it does the EXACT SAME THING as all of the other tuners, just with different hardware (phone vs touch screen module) the lower price, and pre customized with maps for the pipes that I had planned to buy, I went with the V&H

I was a little sad that I didn't have any noticeable gains in power with the tuner and pipes. i mean, I realize it's just pipes and a clean burn, but i figured with the name "stage 1" it would be a decent power increase... I know i've still got the a/c to go, but still.

as for the 70/30. it is absolutely on the docket, but I am in no rush for it. I have been scouring ebay for a nice contrast cut 70 tooth rear, found a few sweet ones for $100, but they don't fit the newer hub, and i figure with the cost of machining it, it wouldn't be a savings. one will popup i'm confident, then 70 we go!

As per the advice of many people and along with the rules of HD Forums, these two threads have been merged into one.

your take of the stage1 is right on the money. it is not a big increase. it does however look better and SOUND better. which by itself, is very nice.

you want grunt? do the 30/70 pulleys. totally not selling you short on that. you'll be smiling all day long. an early 70t will fit with an early-to-late spacer adapter. easy as pie. I'm running one on my bike right now with the Ness 70t pulley. here's the link for the spacer it is $15 shipped. buy the pulley if it's a good deal. if you are not sure, PM me and I'll check it out for ya. www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-PULLEY-SPACER-ADAPTER-FOR-84-99-TO-2000-UP-HARLEY-MADE-IN-USA-/360605117208

Weezl- Also keep in mind that you are still running the stock timing maps, which are VERY tame in the off-the-line and roll-on areas, it is making your bike a bit sluggish for epa and "new rider" safety margin (so new riders don't over lug the motor when new and F something up). I'm not sure to what extent the FP3 can help you with timing optimization, but you may want to PM RockerB since he has the most experience with it. If you had the PV I could just send you a tuned map to upload and done. but I totally get it with the FP3 looking user-friendly vs the powervision's learning curve. I can always shoot you a picture of the timing maps if it helps with the FP3. I'm not familiar with it.

I just did a fp3 on my buddies Dyna, one thing I can recommend is run the open mode and do a self tune, that will help you get to where you want to be. That's one of the nice features it has. Good luck

I think it only optimizes fueling and not timing- which is common for all tuning products. If it does optimize timing (e.g. adding more advance as well as trimming timing for detected knock), let us know. As far as I know, no tuning product on the market can add timing advance automatically and it must be manually adjusted based on logged ride data and tweaking.

When I'm plugged into the bike I can tweak the numbers, Haven't really dug into it that much. But you might be surprised on what the fp3 is capable of. I my self see no advantage of an EFI bike...I'm a carb guy at heart, much easier to change jets out than "tweak" any fi machine...Plus it's sounds better..lol
