Fat Boy S Tires
I have the stock Dunlops on my Fat Boy S but goodness me they are not lasting very long. I have almost 12,000 miles on the bike, already had 2 rear tires changed at every 5k, the front was replaced at 2k because it wasn't round but the dealership told me 1000 miles ago that it's close to needing to be replaced (which means it's only getting about 8k)
I'm holding off a little longer as I'm going on a 2000 + mile trip in 3 weeks and a 4500 mile trip in August and would like a new front tire for those trips.
Thankfully my dealership offers free tires for life if you get the bike serviced with them, just pay an hour's labor.
Anybody else getting poor mileage from the stock Dunlops? On my Heritages I got 11k on the rears and over 20k on the fronts. I know our roads are flat and straight but they haven't changed. More torque on the S? I am not doing burnouts or donuts!!

My Fatboy eats rear tires...5000 to 6000 is all I get too. I replace the front after 2 rears..I have run Dunlops...Metzlers...Michelins all about the same mileage...I need a rear tire soon and am thinking about the American Elite Dunlop but I didn't like the way the original Dunlop handled...Metzlers handle the best..but are softer...Michelins wore funny especially the front...so I have read other posts that they are getting much better mileage but it hasn't been my experience...

I'm a stickler for tire pressure, I check them about every 10 days. I'm running 38 and 42 psi. Never had this problem with either Heritage or my Springer.

I'm baffled by the crappy rear tire mileage I get on the rear of my 11 Fatboy Lo,as are quite a few others, so you're not alone. 5 to 6k is it for me also. I do have a 124 and a DD7 trany gear set but have never done a burnout with it. The tires are expensive enough without that trick. I've laser aligned; kept up with air pressure; kept belt tension right to no avail. I do weigh in at 270 and know that doesn't help but geezeo meezo I'm not used to this. I mounted a car tire on the back that stopped and started great but wore me out on twisty roads due to its flat tread design. It did go for 11k before I went back to motorcycle tires. I've used Dunlap's, Michelin, Metzler, and just mounted an American Elite so will report in if it lasts any longer. The Metzler was worn out in 3k.

Braking habits should also be considered. Heavier use of the rear brake will cause the rear tire to wear a LOT faster. Under normal conditions, I brake with (estimated) 70% front and 30% rear. I just did a tire change and my front tire was actually more worn than my rear (and my front tire always wears 1:1 with the rear, not 2:1, like most of you above are claiming). This set of tires (stock Dunlops) had about 13,000km (just over 8,000mi) on them, but I'm a pretty aggressive rider and there's a lot of stop-and-go riding in Japan, so I'm pretty happy with that. Just put a set of Michelin Commander IIs on to see how they run...
EDIT:
Dang! That's a DEAL!
