Looks like the lesson here is biased. Sorry.
I will bow out if you find my input unecessary to your inquiry
I gave him at least one comparison before we completely derailed his thread. Lol.

Here is my opinion to add to the group. I bought my first HOG (2016 Road King), added the high flow air cleaner and Vance and Hines Eliminator 400 slip on mufflers. I was hesitant at first about the FP3 without using a dyno. However, after installing the FP3, I am very pleased. Easy to use, love the Auto tune feature, and would highly recommend it.

My 08 ran flawlessly for 35,000 miles with a dyno tuned PC5. Can't go wrong with that. What the FP3 has over that is if I switch parts. I didn't blow the money I spent on the dyno.

Either one is great. If you'll never tweak anything after the pc5 and the dyno tune. You're good.

As far as cost. The PC5 and a dyno tune is double if not more than the FP3. So long as you don't put it on a dyno.

Which right now, I see no need to.

I've read V&H is working on adding a feature for cams.
Whether a newr fp3 or just a form ware reqirement is needed, that I've not heard yet.
That said, cam upgrade is in the works for my Slim.
Maybe thats when I might jump on it as my Dynojet is the FuelMoto brand Micro tuner. And I don't think it will tune for that. Might be wrong on that, so don't go by it

The FP3 already has a cam upgrade feature, worked great on my BO, it has a list of cams to choose from to edit into your current map, or you can contact V&H if it's not listed. You can also choose "Manual" for cam selection and put in the new cam specs, and edit it that way. The process for my '09 Rocker, when I do the cams, will be a little different, I tried it in "demo" mode, it says "To change your cam settings, go to customer Support and press Upload Map, Then call or email our customer support team with the cam info". They must edit the cam into your map, and send it back to you to flash.

That's what I get for relying on older threads.
Why its not a bad idea to bring them back to life at times of uestion.

All of the base maps provided by V&H using their exhaust are dynoed in house to provide the best tune possible. Running the autotune can make some small differences but unless you dyno your bike V&H recommends not running the autotune when using their exhaust.

That was my finding as well.
I'm running V&H BigShots Staggered with quiet baffles.
After loading that first recommended map, the bike came alive - and this was after not being happy with the "canned" map the dealer installed along with the Stage 1.
I tried AutoTune a few times, just to play with it, and the changes it recommended were minor, and I was never really able to feel much difference.
I always wound up going back to that first, and BEST match for my equipment.
