Default Hard lowers on Fatboy

So I'm back in the Softail fold after cruising Touring bikes for the last 5 years. One of the things I miss most are lower fairings. I've seen in the Softail Bagger thread that several people have installed Engine guards with factory-type hard lowers, but I'm unsure which crash bar to use. There are tons of options on buying aftermarket lowers, but I just need to know the compatibility or needed mods of which engine guard to use.

I measured my neighbor's Street Glide and the guard is exactly the same dimension from the upper center mounting bolt at a diagonal down to the lower mounting point, but the mounting points are about 1/2 inch farther apart(left to right)than on the Softail. Now I can't help but wonder if the lowers would fit on the larger Softail engine guard- the more squared off one instead of the more round shaped one? Or possibly build some offset lower brackets to mount the touring bar on the Softail.

I think I'm going with leather pros.
I've just got to figure out how to hide the $519 bill from the Wife

I been thinking about doing the same to my Slim. I wanted to be able to add speakers to the lowers. I found a shop that will modify a touring engine guard to fit my Slim.

I think that once bolted at the top, it wouldn't be too hard to see what might need to be fab bed up at the bottom mounting locations.
