Softail Slim S Rear Cylinder Cutout. Fans worth it?
When riding the bike in 95 plus weather in town I get the Rear Cylinder Cutout.
Only when stopped. Usually only happens after riding 30 min or longer. It does not do it every time. The bike is stock. I am thinking about getting the love Jugs to prevent this.
I prefer the simple look of the Wards fans, but it seems like they are always not taking orders. So I may order the black Love Jugs.
Thoughts?
.
Yes the Wards fans are worth it. My Low Rider S dropped 50+ degrees with the fans and an oil cooler with fan. Buy them, install them and be happy. I never have the EITMS activate here in Phoenix.
you say it's stock? aren't HD's tuned lean from the factory to meet epa requirements? Getting a tune to enrich the afr will help it run cooler. I don't know how much those fans run but a tune an maybe an oil cooler might be enough.
Target Tune in my bike didn't lower the temps much at all. The bike would regularly top out at 300+ degrees after a 15 minute ride. Not it just gets to about 250ish and actually cools down a few degrees when sitting at a stoplight.

After the fans do you feel the oil cooler was needed? I was thinking of going with the same oil cooler you have as well.
