I'm looking over my receipts from the build, and part# 13500013A online description for the heads states -

"Heads are machined and threaded to simplify installation of Automatic Compression Release."

Does this mean they can be installed without removing the heads and paying an arm and a leg in labor at HD?

Harley...whoever he was just flat out didn't know his ****....

HC pistons and 211 cams, I'd done the CR's on the install and that'd saved you a lot of $$$$ VS pulling the heads and/or doing them on the bike NOW...after the fact....

Looking at the head you should see a hole in between the spark plug and the head bolt if the heads are pre-drilled for compression releases. If they are, installation will be a breeze.

No luck with the heads being pre-drilled for release valves. The change in manufacturing and the description must have taken place after mine were manufactured.

Anyone have an idea of what a dealer would charge to install an aftermarket starter? Assuming, of course, I could get them to stop insisting I use an HD starter.

My 16 yo 95" Stage II with 160,000 miles on it finally needed an inner primary seal so while I was at it I replaced the starter as preventative maintenance while I was in there. I always believed that the cheap EBay starters were virtually identical to the pricey HD units so I put my money where my hunch was and bought this one for $120 DELIVERED. The damn thing spins my motor as fast as the OEM unit ever did. (It's a 2 hour job.)
