Are all Softail frames the same across a given year model? Meaning do they have the same rake in the neck and mounting points for tanks, oil bags, etc.
Really just curious about interchangability of parts between models. I am looking at a 2007 FXSTC Softail Custom. I want to make it my own and am either thinking of adding a springer front end or one from a fat boy...but didn't know if the rake was the same.
acording to the 2007 catalog which I have the rake on your Custom is 32/147 the 147 is the trail, on the Springer of the same year it's 32/160 and on the Fat Boy it's 32/147. I've got Catalogs going back to 1992 and Harleys keep chopping and changing the rakes on some of the Softails, but 32 seems to be the most popular one on a lot of the models through out the years.
Couldn't tell you about the mounting points, but if you stick with a 2007 Fatboy frame I can't imagine it's any different from the Custom.
A fatboy and a heritage have a shorter front end I believe. A softail standard and custom are the longer ones. Basically yes you can put a fatboy or a springer front end on it. The trick in front ends is to get one with the same Axel size as your current wheel
