Default Narrow versus wide drive belt

Why did HD change to the narrow drive belt and what year. Is it because the newer belts are Kevlar versus the older rubber design. What is the replacement interval for each??

Please no guessers, only respond if you know the answers!

There must be some Harley mechanics or Parts professionals out there who have the answers to this?

The first softail belts where 1.5"

In 2000 they went to 1.125 because they went from a 130 to 150 tire.

In 2006 they went to 20mm to fit the 200 tire.

This applies to FX softails
