Hi folks, well here in the UK, I am often questioning the size of the 2015 Heritage petrol tank. When my gauges (yes I have 2, one on the tank and one on the speedo) says I have only 9 miles left, I keep running the bike for another 25 miles or so and still when I stop and fill up, the maximum fuel I can get in is 16.5 litres (5 US gallons is 20 litres) so please explain to me why? I am getting about 180-200 miles out of a tank (with a 110 big bore kit) but in 4 years, running the tank to past low fuel level, I still get less than 17 litres in the tank?

Tank lift and a front and rear final drive swap to 30t/70t had a very dramatic effect on my 5gal tank reading
I run it rich and hard. But still get 180mi before a fill
I treat my ethanol fuel with various chemicals regularly
and I always ride solo
I can't believe this thread as this is one of the top stupidest things I've ever read. Not only can the gauge be off or the level armo, if the bike is lowered it will not read correctly if the tank is lifted it will not read correctly. It's a 5 gallon tank figure it out by filling the tank, run it low, fill it back up and divide the miles by the gallons filled and you will get your miles per gallons. Multiply by 5 and that is your range. Set at 0 every fill and use your odometer to figure out if you have gas left.
I personally could care less
Ride and fill and when done, then we (me + wife) wine about it all night long.
