Its not bad at all as far as it being loud. I can only hear my exhaust when i really get on it. Wind noise is ok not great since it only has front vents. With summer coming i had to go with Ghost as its the only Simpson helmet with vents around the helmet to allow more air flow. The photochromatic thing does suck but shield comes pin-lock ready and they have a photo chromatic insert. Was also a selling point bud runs a pin lock insert i used it in 80 degree weather not once did i get any fogging. So thats my next purchase for helmet.

Very courious, what does "Riding a Harley" have to do with "being able to wear a peanut helmet"? I guess the status of being a Harley rider makes it OK in your mind, but I have never seen any regs that give that permission.

Why don't you just move to a US state like here in Florida where Helpmets are not requiried. But, Just FYI, most riders around here I see wear 3/4 or full face anyway.

No helmet or just a peanut helmet is mostly seen during Bike week when most are ridding in groups doing less than 30MPH or more often stuck in traffic. And of course, most have out of state LP's.

I would advise a Modular. Some are not cheap but what's your head worth?
Depending on your head type and size some fit better than others. I'm a bit partial to the Shoei Neotec but that will set you back about 650 or so.
I would try different manufacturers for fit and then look at price. Good luck.

Where did you see a photochromic PINLOCK shield?

I find it very hard to believe that most people in Florida riding Harley's are wearing 3/4, or full face helmets. I have road through many of your states, and most of the people I see on Harley's have peanut helmets on. They just look right on a cruiser. The same can be said up here in Canada. Full face on a sport bike, and peanut on a cruiser. A lot of the hip newbies are wearing 3/4 helmets. I am in no way saying that peanut helmets are the safer choice, all though many guys will claim that a full face helmet hurts your ability to hear, and see properly. I just messaged two of my riding buddies about this thread, saying that maybe we should be looking at riding with full face helmets. The one guy said "he doesn't ride a cruiser to look goofy". Like it or not, the stigma is there. You don't look cool on a cruiser with a full face helmet.

Now I will say that the Shark Evoline 3st looks pretty interesting. You can legally ride with chin piece up and around the back of the helmet, making it a 3/4 helmet, with the same safety rating.

I know a lot of us that live here in Florida that wear full face helmets. I'm one of them. Buy a quality modular helmet and you won't be overly hot even in summer. Most of us wear them because we ride daily in rush hour traffic. Looking cool is the furthest thing from my mind. Hell I never bought any bike to look cool. If someone rides a certain style bike to be cool they are far from cool to begin with. I'm just as guilty wearing skid lids too though but not concerned over looks.

If "what you look like" is more important (to you/your buddy) than "protectiong your head", it is foolish of me to offer any further arguments for wearing a full face helmet.

However, I will reiterate that on a day to day observation, I see riders who ride "Street/touring" type bikes in and around Central Florida wear full face or at least 3/4 helmets with little or no decoration. Mostly white/gray or black, but some colors as well. The Crotch rocket and sport bike riders tend to whear FF helmets but they like the ones with the wild/bright paint patterns (and so do the moped guys!!!! Why?, I haven't the foggiest idea.).

And yes, there are the die hard (no pun intended) riders who don't wear a helmet at all. They are the ones who also ride in shorts and flip flops with their hair in pony tails and long beards that blow up into their face. To me, they are the riders that look "Goofy". And, unless you drop by the certain biker haunts, you don't often see the stereotype "gang" looking riders around here. What I most often see is small groups (1,2,3) of riders enjoing the ride, doing it safely wearing helmets that may not be "cool" but certainly don't look at all "Goofy".
