Default Can we compare oil temps?

Riding my Fat Boy on a good hard Freeway ride at 75mph +, after pulling off at the coffee place, my oil temp measured about 240. Was wondering how that compares to others.

I've seen 250-260 on hot days after a hard ride or if I get stuck in traffic on a hot day.

By this ingenious logic, no one should ever post about anything on this forum.

Look, if you've got personal problems go solve them but let the rest of us enjoy both our bikes and this forum.

I have a specific reason for asking this question, and if that offends you, tough.

By the way, I rode 117 miles today. How about you?

When the bike was new in 07 mine was about 245, 250 give or take 5 for the first 1k at highway speeds.

After 15K when I had the cams installed a good tune with SERT and was using Syn oils, the oil temp was usually 220-225.

Wow! I'm kinda new to my HD, I just purchased the oil/tank temp gauge and since I do a lot of stop and go freeway driving in HOT L.A. I thought i would check this thread to see what was considered too hot for an air cooled engine but maybe this was not to be?

Here in Texas, my oil temperature would be near 260° during the hot summer when temperatures are in the 100's.

I added an oil cooler and the hottest I have noticed my oil temperature was 240° during the hot summer.

Are you using full synthetic oil?
