I was clearing off the bench and found this... does anyone know what it is and is it important?
Sorry the pics a bit rubbish... very small and made of brass or copper. Any ideas?
And secondly, this is the rubber trunking type strip from under the rear mudguard. There is lots of the old double sided foam tape on the flat edge that's proving to be a b*****d to remove. Tried WD40 and doesn't soak in enough to do any good.
Anyone have a good ideas how to remove the remains of the sticky tape?
Didn't read the link, but it appears to be the tensioner clip that goes behind the stoplight switch in the front controls and it's only important if you want your brake light to go off.
As for removing the tape on the wire shielding, the easiest thing to do is to silicone it back in place, or buy a new one. You may also look at Home Depot for door weatherstripping, if it has a big enough hollow to run the wires through it...cheap and easy!

working for a bodyshop we always have to reuse stuff with 2 sided tape, take your time and use a lot of razor blades and you can slowly cut just the tape off, then use some adhesive remover to remove the last little bit of tape and glue. Once done use a good adhesive promoter and re-tape it.
