Just put my order in on the JW Speaker Evo 2. I'm hoping I fall in love with the results. Honestly, it's kind of a lot of money to throw at light unit.

Please keep us updated. I'm looking at one myself.

Honestly, the Evo2 is an excellent LED, but it suffers from the same problems all the other LED lights do... When you go into a turn, you are riding into the cut-off area and blackness. The EVO2 and almost all other LED lights were designed for vehicles that don't tilt. Speaker finally addressed thais problem with their (expensive) Adaptive Motorcycle LED. It senses the tilt of the bike and adds light in that direction. I've gone through the Daymaker->Evo2->Adaptive LED. If you do night riding the best safety thing you can do is to get a good light, and the Adaptive LED is the best, period. I see people spend big bucks on non-safety junk, and then penny-pinch on their lights. Penny-wise & pound-foolish.

You're facts ring true...But you have failed to address the adaptive JW Speaker price. I'm sorry, but I can't justify $799 for a light. $250 I can do, and I will be happy all day with the improved results of the 8700 evo2. Maybe if they drop the price in a few years or get competition on a similar technology...Then maybe I will see one on my bike.

Not suggesting this will sway you, but Revzilla has the 8790 for $520. Still plenty more than the EVO2 but finally someone isn't selling them for full retail.

Not trying to be that guy right now, but that's not accurate. The 8790 comes in adaptive and non-adaptive. The prices reflect the difference in technology.

Yeah, I know the price is high - but it wasn't alway that way. I got mine (7") for $640 when they first came out. I don't know if it's Speaker or Drag Specialties that's keeping the price way up there. When they first came out, Speaker stated that they were only available through Drag Specialties dealers. I don't see that anymore on their site, but of all the distributors they list. only D.S. is a motorcycle parts company.

I'll be damned. Didn't realize there were two variants. I appreciate you being that guy.
The 8690 is an "8790 lookalike" but is 5.75" and the extra lenses are what they call their "comfort light" (but, no, it's not adaptive ...or 7")
Incidentally there are other lookalikes on Aliexpress that are 7", look like an 8790, but they don't have the adaptive electronics in them, instead they use the extra lenses as left and right indicators/flashers (and are cheap as chips)
