Taking the 16 Heritage to Vegas tomorrow. Was going to go last week on the new Street Rod but it crapped out 200 miles into the trip.
I go to Vegas and my son and then we ride to Laughlin for the River Run. So I missed that event. Will still go with my son and his wife. We do Saturday steak night at Harrah's.
I only have 1,200 miles on it from last years break in and didn't ride it after that. This will put 4K on it and will be just right for the 5K when I return.
It is the Teal and Crushed Ice color. I named it "Elvis" as it looks like a bike he would have had. So it seems right to ride it to Vegas for its first big ride.
200 miles of rain today, Made it to Fayetteville just short of my goal to be at Ft. Smith. With the rain getting heavier, spray from semis and darkness at 7PM from the heavy black clouds I pulled off at an area with 4 big motels. Got the last room at the Comfort Inn & Suites.
Many areas of flooding across Missouri.
It is all part of the adventure that motorcycling is.

Elvis is dirty and slimy. The ventilator is soaked but the engine motored on abiet at 40 mpg. The inconsiderate rain started between fuel stops. Was not going to pull onto the shoulder with all the traffic flying by. The moisture probably loosened the carbon build from the engine blowby anyway.

Did 847 miles today and wound up in Grants, NM. Got compliments on the bike at most fuel stops.
I am going to make a bold statement. The Heritage is a more competent touring bike than any from the touring family. I did the same trip and route with my 14 RK last year and it was not as comfortable or handle as good.
