I've been looking at threads on 2to1 for softails and as a result have several questions you guys can help me with:
I'm looking at V&H, Rinehart and Cobra, alot of our choices are personal perferences, but what are the reasons for not selecting a particular brand?
I've looked at warranty and the Cobra is lifetime, limited but doesn't cover bluing-- any problems in this area? Do you retune for the new exhaust?
The other 2 brands offer 1 yr and 18 months.
I have heard of folks dragging the 2to1 in a sharp right turn, have you had this problem?
I like an exhaust that is normal at regular acceleration and provides more sound if you get on it...anybody found a set of 2to1 that does this? What baffles did you use?
I have a Drago 2;1, and a D and D Fat Cat, both beautiful and well thought of. The Drago came with a 10 year warrantee, now how does that compare to the ones you are looking at?
I think Cobra has only relatively recently entered the HD market; it formerly catered almost exclusively to metric owners, and in my experience, many of its products were junk. What it did better than anything was advertise.
My guess is the "lifetime warranty" is there because without it, no one would buy the stuff. Of course, since it doesn't cover bluing, that leaves only peeling chrome and broken bolts.
My advice would be to stick with companies that have a reputation in this area.
Tommyglide, never heard of Drago. Went to their website and the softail 2to1 looks very solid. The muffler on the bike in their example looks like the muffler is really close to the ground. Do you have this model? If so, any cornering issues with dragging?
Thanks,
Rollon I have the first version of the Drago with the longer muffler for the Heritage, and no, clearance was not an issue. Sounds good also, quiet when sneaking home in the wee hours,,, or twist it and **** off neighbors you don't like. Win win. I now use the Fat Cat.
We run the VH pro pipe on both mine and the wife's Heritage ( see sig ) never had the pipe drag on either bikes, but we are not that hard on them in the corners. Sound is very good at low speeds and comes to life when the throttle is opened up.
Also if you want to here the sound of the pipe on here bike just search Vance and Hines 2 into 1 pro pipe her bike is a 2010 stage one stock cams.
There are many good 2-1 options. It will all come down to personal preference on looks, sounds, and price. I would suggest to go to youtube and do a search and check out all the looks and sound. I personally have a Bassani Road Rage 2-1 and love it. For me it came down to Bassani, V&H Pro Pipe, and D&D fatcat. Couldnt go wrong with any of those.
I tried that and there were no softails with 2to1 systems. Good idea though. Stopped at an Indy today and saw several bikes partially disassembled, one had a hole in the piston
