Default Psa: V&h fp3 issues!

Just a heads up if you have a new model harley and want to put a vance and hines FP3 on it.

Harley's got new firmware that won't allow them to use the FP3. Harley never bothered to share the code or inform Vance and Hines so a fix is probably several weeks to month out. All the online shops are selling these without telling anyone (whether they all know or not, I can't say).

My pipes/air cleaner/FP3 were all getting put on today. Shop called me and said they couldn't get the FP3 to work. They called VH and VH told them that it's due to the new HD firmware and the two companies are working on a fix. A "few weeks" was the best guess on a resolution.

Luckily my local shop had a PowerVision in stock so they're putting that on instead. So I guess I lose phone connectivity and auto tune. We'll see how I like the PV. Maybe I'll look at a FP3 later on if the PV isn't doing it for me.

Anyway just a heads up, if you have just bought a new HD and want to put the FP3 on, CALL first to make sure it will work with your bike's firmware.

If V&H says they'll fix it I'd believe them.
They've rolled out continuous updates and improvements for the FP3 since it was released.
It's definitely not a vaporware product - they really support it.

You might lose the phone connectivity, but I believe the PV does autotuning.

Technology advances, aftermarket companies catch up. I also have been very happy with the FP3 I installed on my '14 Slim last year. V&H has already made improvements and I hear there are more coming. Kinda cool, really.

Power vision is a better than the fp3 in a lot of ways. Not taking anything away from the fp3 but it has been a few steps behind the power vision in capabilities. V&h is working hard to catch up but dynojet has been superior over V&h for several years. Power vision aslo has the capability to add on the target tune which puts it up there with the top tuners on the market. Also you can auto tune with the power vision. My one wish for it is the blue tooth so you don't have to run the cable up to the front of the bike

You just saved yourself the cost of the FP3, mine is sitting on the shelf and was replaced by a Powervision.

Like everyone said PV is better than FP3. It autotunes in both wide and narrowband as well. Only advantage for FP3 that I see is the convenience of Bluetooth. Other than that you will find many more maps for PV than FP3. And also many more dyno tuners that tune with PV. I have yet to find a dyno tuner that does FP3.

Mm I was just about to drop a few $ on a powervision tonight and this firmware issue just come up ... glad I read this.
So anyhoooo will the powervision hook up to the new 2017 customs or is it safe to say there compatible with The latest firmware ? or is dynojet in the same boat as the fp3 ?
