Never have, Never would....By and large, dealership mechanics are hacks and parts changers, they have very limited and flawed diagnostic skills.
I wouldn't trust a dealership mechanic to put air in my tires without screwing it up.

You think that because I disagree with the dealers diagnosis and that I also disagree with the statement that this is a "known problem", that I work for Harley?

The fact is that you bought a used motorcycle that had previously been wrecked and now you want Harley to give you repairs on the piece of junk for free.
People like you are the main reason that I sold my shop and went back to trucking.

Get yourself a used Japanese machine. That way when it needs repairs you can just Craigslist another one and probably be money ahead. Not everyone is cut out for Harley ownership, even with the newer ones. They aren't perfect (few machines are) and the price of really riding one means you're gonna pay somebody good coin to fix it or you're gonna have to get knowledgeable and handy.

There's a price to be paid to ride the bar & shield beyond the price of the bike. If you're not able or are unwilling, I'd pick a different brand.

Greezey Rider, first off, I bought the bike brand new, off the show room floor... I was the one that was a hit and run, and then had the bike rebuilt... people like me? I am just trying to understand that when they said they went through my bike to make sure everything was ok after the accident, and were paid to repair everything and to check everything.... talking to Harley Corporate today they are still trying to figure out why the part broke, that went up into the gears.... and folks I know it is sometimes expensive to get these things fixed... I worked for many years working on Jet Fighters, these are tinker toys compared to the jets I worked on... but when something doesn't sound right I'm going to question it...

Then why don't you just fix it yourself?

Currently don't have time, 80 hour weeks and the part that broke still makes me question if it was a defective part.... it happens... is only reason why I took this to Harley in the first place.... and yes I know dealerships are not exactly watching out for my best interest... but hitting me with 3k to fix it really upset me and yes, I need to use an indy since I don't have time to work on the bike...

You are talking about a 6 year old bike..parts break..even if it was a defective part ...it is well out of warranty so you would have to pay anyway

no Greezey Rider.... but nothing said, then you never know...
but just deciding to pay for it with out asking, then you deserve to pay too much... and just to get a rise out of someone by making comments without even reading all of the information shows you've already decided just to make uninformed comment... thanks... I need that trash too...
