at the risk of sounding the same and adding nonsense myself, I don't think he was referring to whether or not you were speaking the truth, it's just hard to understand why people have to make comments that contribute nothing but contentious remarks. What does that accomplish? It's like you get excited being able to throw in a slam. If you don't have nothing to offer the OP then why not just ignore it? If you don't believe him, or if you disagree with him, sometimes it's best to ignore it rather than make comments that are geared toward nothing but stirrig the pot. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other people feel the same way, they like to come to these forums to learn and help, we can get drama anywhere these days.
anyway, I hope it all works out for the best for everybody.
I have a 2011 Heritage softail classic, it has always beenserviced at a Harley dealership, and I have only worked on the bike once, itwas in an accident the first year I had it and it was totally repaired, and itnow only has about 21000 miles on it... About 3 month ago I noticed a small oilleak and so I changed the seal on the drain plug for the transmission.... tookit in to the dealership and had them check it, they said it was still leakingand that it looked like my primary oil pump so I had them order a new expensiveoil pump... didn't ride the bike except home.... 2 weeks later they got the newoil pump in, and I took the bike in to have the work done.... after waiting anhour I was called into the shop and shown that no it wasn't my oil pump butthat I would need a new transmission.... A bike with only 21000 miles needing a new transmission hasblown my mind... 3 k to have this done is even worse since I am still paying onthe bike... with the information I sat down and wrote each of the board membersand heads of each department at Harley telling them about the problem and thatthe dealership even said they had not seen a problem this bad before.... wellat this point 2 to 3 months later I have yet to hear a thing from Harley exceptsomeone from customer service contacted me to ask me some questions about theproblem... 3 weeks ago.... that's all I have heard, its like I bought thebike.... and my connection to Harley is done unless they want to sell mesomething else.... I guess I am so frustrated by the whole thing because thiswas a present I bought myself for retiring from the military.... 21 year activeduty I earned it.... I mention that because all I see is how Harley boastsabout how it believes in the military, thanks but I believe its just a bunch of lip service...even if I had not retired from the military I would think you would respectyour customers more then this...
Well first of all, thank you for your service!! I hope someone ends up contacting you cuase thats bullsh*t and they should work something out with you. I wish you the best of luck bud!
I feel your pain -- 2012 Heritage with 46,000 KM or 28,000 miles. Shift lever return Spring broke and got caught in 6th gear, broke a chunk out of 6th gear and that piece destroyed the rest of the transmission. Bike is still in the shop but hopefully it will be complete next week. Hopefully once your get back on the road you get many mikes of trouble free riding.
Like you, I was really frustrated with a bike with fairly low KMs needing a repair this expensive. I never had issues with Hondas I previously owned but I am learning that is the cost to own a Harley and I either pay it or go back to metric. .
