2018 uhh...
Well I didn't have to wait three years to get mine, I could afford it now, and why wait?
Plus why buy a used one with someone else's potentially caused problems?
To me that is being a sucker.
And once you have the M8, why keep the the outdated bike/s, you won't want to ride them anymore?

As for multiple bikes, why wouldn't I ride them? I'm not the kind of guy who throws all his other toys in the box to collect dust when I get a new one. Each one brings something different and it doesn't hurt to spread the mileage around.
I know where you are coming from mate.
Ever since I got the new M8 Street Bob, I've had little old ladies at the shops say what a nice bike it is, school kids waving to me and drivers at the stoplights striking up a conversation asking about the new bike.
But dammit I want them to be scared of me!! I want to be a big bad biker, a Hell's Angel wannabe! They should steer clear of me, I ride a Harley, and that means I'm a scary ****!
That's it, I need to get rid of the bike now

Wow...........just wow, the M8 is the greatest motor that ever came out of Milwaukee & the Twin Cam as a certain Australian jack tard says is just an irrelevant turd - LOL
Who really gives a ****.........? the M8 114 is not all that, I just rode over the weekend as here in PA it finally got nice - guess what? yep in our group there was a heritage 114, nice looking bike - but its not like this 114 DESTROYS the 103, not by a long shot!
The one thing I noticed with mine beside it was the floor boards are up higher - thus helping with the lean angle no doubt, with all the add ons put on the bike it might have been 30-40 pounds lighter at best so the guys preaching its a 100 pounds lighter haven't put the crash bars on, actual passenger floor boards, a back rest or trunk, etc.
I would say the rider of that 114 was as seasoned as I - in the straight aways he had me by maybe a bike length - strangely enough in the turns I took him (afterwards he did mention the stock rear tire seemed to kick out) maybe a harder tire with less grip, roll on at 60 is not impressive - yes he left me but I caught him - I didn't pass him but was right at the door the whole time.
My conclusion as both he & I were curious about the new vs the old is this, the new heritage handles well as I watched him negotiate the bike & it did seem effortless - I experienced the same when test riding it, comparatively its a little more boxed in than the pre 18 models, knees seem higher & anyone at 6 ft / 6`1 would feel cramped.
Power wise the new bike had me!!!! I hate to admit that but you only as good as what you ride - HOWEVER!!!!! it did not & I repeat - did not out perform the TC to a point that would justify its purchase or giving up what I have for a new Heritage, Yes the 114 is faster, more torque & has the edge but not by that much that it warrants buying it.
I believe with some minor work on the 103 it would be right there with the new offering, But honestly - as long as I can do 80 - 90mph I'm good, I'm not 25 anymore, Now I like to enjoy the ride.
good luck to what ever you choose & ride safe!

Objectively, the new softails, especially the Heritage 114 (mine), are the best bikes Harley’s made.
But it’s still down to the rider.
I had a 103. I had a lot of fun with that bike. But from a performance perspective, the new bike is a leap forward.
Btw, I suspect you rode better or harder than you buddy, on this particular day.
Honestly while the new Heritage is faster, more torque & is a little lighter, it side by side with mine - Mine got more looks & honestly mine feels like a more heavy duty bike with better accents & fit/finish, one would expect more from a 114 naturally in the speed/torque department - however lets break this down:
The gentleman & I talked pricing & he got his bike for MSRP at $20,229 plus prep fee, plus 6% sales tax. He put 5K down with 2.9% financing over 5yrs & his monthly payment is $309.xx a month - with an approximate pay back of 24K after 5 years on a Heritage. He told me that they tried like hell to get 22K for it but needed to move inventory! so this is his deal?
Yeah.....Ill hang on to the TC for a while.
1- he has to have his son come over (3 month timeframe there) so pictures can be taken, he has to put in a photo op order!
2- the stars must line up right as his bad back, meds and the tuning of the proclaimed owned bike are exhausting & just down right painful.
3- the flip phone they`re using needs a battery back up & a power point instructional seminar on how to hook up the analog cord to the computer to download from the source (flip phone)
4- its just theory that the bike might be owned by another - Ooops, silly me its cookys sweet lil rig that's right!
all that tuning knowledge he boasts & still unable to take a pic & post from his phone...........
Is that what you gleaned from my post? basically I was saying - yes it is faster, has more torque & a slightly better lean angle - BUT..... I wouldn't let go of my Twin Cam for one - not at this moment in time!

If you have money to waste, waste it. I make a lot off people wasting theirs.

In three years I might get another shiny brand new toy, give me a holler then, I might even do you a good deal

There is no shame in admitting it.
It's like your mate got a new younger, hotter, lighter wife, and secretly you want one like his badly. But out of some sense of loyalty or fear, you'd rather stick with your older, fatter worn-out missus because you still thinks she looks better!
Now I gotta go out for an awesome ****, I mean ride!
For any of us to be here talking about bikes we’ve bought in the last few years, congrats for being on the right side of the economy. Good problems to have. I’m really enjoying my 114 Stage 2 Heritage, but I don’t think I’ll ever stop riding and enjoying my ‘09 Dyna. Just different beasts that scratch different itches.
How many decades have we been told we’re riding inferior, slower, less performance oriented motorcycles than any other manufacturer only to point out that “nothing feels like a Harley” and “speed and handling” aren’t the only things that make a bike worth riding...
Now we’re arguing with ourselves between newer “modern” Harley’s and previous gen bikes? Too funny. We’ve always ridden what we like. Shouldn’t be different now, should it?
