I like the RoadGlide Special as well. Just wish it was a lot lighter. I actually like the way they look with apes. I like the Road King Special as well. My gripe with Baggers is they are so top heavy. If it wasn't for that id still have my 2014 CVO Road King.
That is why I keep going back and forth... I did the RGC, RGC CVO, and then the RK CVO already... and for me, for the amount of times I take a long ride, they were not a good fit...
I am thinking of not making the same mistake of getting another RG and just going with this setup... that way, I can have the bags and windscreen for the long trips and loose them when just using the bike around the area... and also, I get back to a blue bike (the thing that I miss the most from my RGC CVO)...
Have been a long time admirer of the Fat Boy over the years, as a matter of fact, in 2003, it was the '03 FB vs '03 Heritage STC, the HSTC won...
My first time to post in the Softail section, been a bagger rider since '09, however lately, the weight of the '14 Limited begin to take a toll on my riding enjoyment as I do miss my Heritage STC...
I am now considering either a Road King Special or back to the Softail models, as in '18 Fat Boy, this Bonneville Salt Pearl is so gorgeous...
With regard to pricing, I'm with the OP, Zakk13...been there done that...the key is patience and wait, until the hype is over...I got my '14 Limited at way below MSRP when local dealers were marking up to $3,000+ above MSRP, but have wait until spring/summer 2014 from first release...
victory motorcycle 2001, what do you think it looks like. this was one of their first models
Lol.. Dude. Maybe the far away silhouette resembles it as in shape in the distance. But that crappy looking first gen Victory looks nothing like the new Fatboy. Not even close. I almost puked in my mouth when I saw that Victory the first time. Are you sure you say the new 2018 Fatboy in person?? Lol..
I mean if anything the side view looks closer the original Fatboy with the longer sweeping rear fender. But even that it doesn't.. No way! That thing was FUGLY!!!!
I think most should hold their comment until they ride this thing. I've owned a half dozen Fat Boy's since 1991, and I'm one to think they screwed it up beginning in '07 but I got to tell you, not only does this thing ride night and day compared to its predecessors, it's just plain bad azz (my opinion). As far as any comparison to the Road Kind Special, and the fact that I've been battling the big C for almost five years, I bought both!
Ride safe all.

Hey Puttnutt if yuo only had to pick 1 what one would yuo keep? Your Road King Special or the new Fatboy you got? When the new Road King Special came out last year I was tempted to by it and give the Road King another chance. Now this new Fatboy really has me intrigued.

Damn, I thought that would be an easy choice but after putting on some miles on the new Fat Boy yesterday, it's not so clear cut, but if I would have to choose (glad I don't have too) I'd stick with my Road King, but talk to me after I get my hands up and out front and my *** back some in the seat (bars and seat) and I might just choose differently........
