Default Opinions on this deal please

First pic is a 2008 Fatboy, mostly stock, 96 CI, 14k miles. Near showroom condition.

Second pic 1997 Heritage Custom. Engine is not original. It's a carbureted 100 ci Rev Tech.

Which bike would you prefer and why?
What do you figure the value of each bike is?

The 97 is different and unique that being said if you needed to get work done on it you can be pretty sure that a dealer won't touch it. I'd guess it's worth 5-6 k??? I'm sure the owner thinks otherwise because of the money they have in it. The 08 being basically stock is actually a good thing...it hasn't been messed with by some guy with no idea what he's doing lol. Maybe worth 7 - 10k depending on condition, time of year and how bad you want it or how bad the seller wants to sell...it's definitely a buyers market and around me the seasons almost over...negotiate the one that makes you smile

The 08 fat boy without a doubt. Low miles and showroom condition. I would stay away from the rev tech. I also don't like how the rear wheel is larger than the front on the heritage.

What is the seller asking for the fat boy? I agree it is currently a buyer's market so you should be able to get it for around low NADA value which is currently $6400, but the seller probably thinks otherwise. If it is in showroom condition like you said, I would say $7500 is the most I would pay given the current market.

I just sold my evo fatboy...I have always loved the evo motor but dealing with the choke an letting it warm up on cool days was a pain in the ***...I'm to the point where I just want to hit the starter button an go..that looks like a heartland 200 rear fender kit, I think it'd look better with a smooth/round fender up front to match....

that 2008 would be a solid choice. around here that evo would run 4-5K, they're getting harder an harder to sell....I'd guess $7500 max on the 08, seems like there's a lot for sale now with the M8 bikes out an people wanting to sell their TC to get one. as always cash talks...I took a grand less than I wanted for my V rod an I'm glad I did...I forgot to take the add down an didn't get another call for 6 weeks. show up with 6-6500 an give it a shot.

It would be an easy choice for me...

The first bike is all Harley, good looking, and "mostly stock" with low miles. It has a good EFI (w/ O2 sensor feedback), the TC96 is solid motor, and you can make it your own with accessories you like or leave it as is... It's a solid, good looking bike.

The second bike might be a contender, except it's not an HD EVO, it has the RevTec engine. I have nothing against RevTec, I would just prefer an HD engine (and would like it more, it if it had it's OEM EVO). But I have to say, I think the 2nd bike is fugly...... Ok, not fugly, but not my style/look.... I don't like the aftermarket rear swingarm/wheel/fender kit. I don't like the big apes, and I don't like the exhaust. It looks really clean though...

I would go for the first bike unless you absolutely LOVE the way the 2nd one is set up AND you have some knowledge, or connections to people with knowledge, of the RevTec engines....

As for price, I suspect the owner of the '97 is pretty proud of that ugly bike and I'm sure he wants much more than it's actually worth.... I wouldn't give him more than 4k to 4.5K, that is if I wanted it... which I wouldn't. I'm sure he believes all the non-HD parts are a bonus, because that's what he wanted... that bike will appeal to a smaller group than the '08... I would easily pay 5K if it had the HD EVO engine, the HD rear swing arm/tire/fender, and that style appealed to me...

The '08 is certainly worth more, and I'd pay more for it than I would pay for the the '97. He's probably asking around 10K, but I would guess it's worth at 8-10K. I would offer 7K if it was in really good condition. I'd pay a little more than that if I absolutely fell in love with it, AND it had good service records....

Good luck and let us know what you eventually decide.......

Easily the fatboy. It looks to be in good condition. I would say around 8k.

Fat Boy hands down. The other bike has too many unknowns.

Definitely the Fat Boy. I think the highest I would go is $8,000, but it may be different where you live. Prices usually drop during the winter, even though we don't really get cold here.

As others have stated...the Fatboy is the best choice. Not a fan of the Rev Tech motors, I used one on a Bobber build I did a few years back only because it was cheaper than S&S.

This one is a no-brainer. The fat boy.
