That quick disconnect is something to consider for the future!
In hindsight I didn't even need to remove the crossover tube to remove the tank to do what I wanted (disconnect and reconnect the handlebar control modules). It was a good learning experience though. The manual just has you disconnect the breather tube and remove the front and rear bolts and just slide the tank to the rear to expose all the connectors on the side of the neck!

You can use a pair of vice grips to pinch the fuel line so gas does not pour our. Also adding the fuel crossover quick disconnect is a pain cause there is not much space to fit it. I have one on my bike and I ended up routing it a different way
