They're absolutely correct!! These new Softails are so absolutely hideous it's like staring at the Medusa head. They handle so poorly, are so under powered, and have such terrible suspensions that just today I rode home with one! And as far as downright scary ugly is concerned, I just started this thread:
I got no idea butt you seem to know all about it ha ha !
Your just not worth it....!

The motor remains my single favorite thing about the new bike, followed by the handling/suspension. Even the '17 M8s have many high mile units doing fine so fingers crossed for most of us. The early Twin Cams were all supposed to be time bombs too, but most are still on the road either because nothing went wrong or the weakness was identified and monitored/replaced avoiding catastrophe. Normally I wait until things shake out, but timing said "jump" so I did. I'm watching closely and so far I feel good about it but miles will tell. I'll always prefer my Evo to the Twin cam even though the TC has many improvements, and maybe you'll always prefer the Twin cam to the M8. The Twin Cams certainly nailed the look better than the Evo or M8 imo, but I still think they look great...plus mods mods mods. There's a lot of enthusiasm right now and maybe it's more than normal because the changes are such a fresh slate it breaks the mold and adds new possibilites.
Anyway, enjoy your day off today you lucky SOB! Hope you get a ride in.
Thanks Thingfish & I didn't get a ride in (Dam it) spent the day at the Toyota dealership finalizing a new truck order & then momma pulls the trigger on a new SUV.
Thingfish - you are alright brother - very level headed in your posts & understanding, I think it would be a pleasure to ride along side you, HD will work through any problems & maybe they already have on this new line up. I hope they do. my issue as you know is not mechanical - although others have that problem.
I like the bikes - the colors are so-so, black is very sharp & always was, I've got just 2 issues & I am pretty sure those will be sorted out & when they are _ ill probably add one to the stable. Ride safe!!!!!
LXT I appreciate the kind words. If you ever hit the west coast send me a PM and we'll deffinately hit some roads! I'll do likewise if I ever get back east. At least Harleys are fun problems to have. Enjoy that new SUV too! At least Toyota dealers seem to have their crap together. Guess it's easy when you sell something that well made. We had a diesel Ford Excursion for 600,000 miles which I'll always miss, but the Tacoma that replaced it has been a dream. I'm on 2 wheels 99% of the time but the wife puts it through the wringer.
Speaking of 2 wheels, I'm picking up the Heritage after having the dealer drop in the stage 2 torque cam. I'm either going to love this thing until I ruin it or I'll be a happy camper. It's still early weekend so hope you squeeze in some ride time too. Peace brother.
Thingfish, really looking forward to hear a good ride report on your 114 Heritage after you get it back.
Enjoying the heck out of my 114 Heritage and toying with going the same route that you are doing. The mileage this bike is getting is amazing, a lot better than my RK was.

While I believe my 2018 Heritage is pretty ugly, I must say that your Fat Boy is about THEE ugliest Softail I've yet too see. I guess I have some uglifying to do to catch up and I will provide some pics along the way. That paint job you got is truly disgustingly ugly, and thank you again for lowering the bar for us all. Deeply inspired now!
