I was a little disappointed that 2007s didn't come with a tach. But after riding a Harley for a while and realizing that the only race I have the potential to win hands down is against a 1972 Ford Pinto...it didn't bother me anymore. It's not like I'm ever going to hit the RedLine anyway. I do like the look of the Speedo/Tach but it's not worth the price to me.

I don't use the tach for racing or running the motor up to redline. I use it for exactly the opposite of that, i.e., to confirm that I'm maintaining a decent minimum engine speed to prevent lugging the motor.
I had the combo tach installed when i took delivery of my Deuce about 6-8 weeks ago. This is my first HD coming off a Honda Firebladeand I'mfinding the tach really helpful as i break the engine in (just ticked over 500 miles last night) keeping it under 4,500rpms. I've played around with the various colour options but have settled on the original blue for backlight. The red was good but as a person who wears prescriptive lenses in my riding glasses i found the red was a bit too intense at night and the colour 'bled' making it marginally tougher to get a crisp image. Blue i've found delivers the best. I liked the green but it was too washed out in most settings and as neutral N is green it made it marginally less easy to see N at lights. With blue as the color isn't replicated in the dash colours everything pops out without a need to read text. Knowing the rpms is also going to make it easier to tailor my SERT if the need arises to tune out decel popping or other such matters as you'll know exactly where in the map to look. I'd buy it again.
