I really cant see my self looking down at the speedo tack going a 100 miles an hour. It just seem to be a bad place to have to look. I tried looking down to see how fast I was going while going through the gears and its not practical at all. I decided to use my internal tack for this type of thing.

Guess what the UPS guy just delivered at my desk !

Looks truely plug and play. Just the one acorn nut to remove the dash. unscrew the reset button, remove and replace then reinstall dash and torque to 80 to 100 nm. sweet cant wait to get home.

You can glance at the tach and look back up in the same time it takes to blink. Your bike might be fast...but it isn't that fast.

Its not practical when i come out of third to shift forth i am at close to 100 miles an hour that's fast enough that glancing may cost me at that speed a split second can mean your life. if your not going to push the bike or race it why bother with a tach.

WOW your going 100 mphs at the top end of 3rd on your Harley? with the windscreen? I start buffeting around 75 to 80 mph.. or are you talking KM per Hour?

I used the tack so far to determine and confirm my idle rpm, then also found that I thought I was typically higher but found I run mostly around 2500 RPM to 3500 RPM. I had most exhaust popping when coasting at 2500 RPM almost all the time. So now I can go into my PCIII map and up the zero throttle fuel AT 2500 and +/- one cell to fix it :-) plus probably roll off the fuel I added above that at Zero Throttle on the table.

Ok on other subjects:

PROs:
It's cool at night (glows RED). see attached pictures...
Was truely plug and play installation.
Nice Surprise the RED locktite the factory installed was not hard to losen bolt. I used Blue when I reinstalled Lock Tite and Diaelectric Grease (also not used by the factory). strange as the underside of the dash is not a water tight seal to the tank in the front where the wires exit.

Cons:
This blind monkey took 15 mins to install. had to find the Silicon spray to lube the rubber gasket so that the Speedo would slide in without catching the gasket.

The response time seems a slight bit sluggish. I would guess about 1 or 2 ms delayed from major RPM changes (ie pulling in the clutch). Just doesnt seem to move as fast as my Metric Bike's Tach. but I am guessing the large Harley engine doesnt change RPMs as fast either.

They make other styles for the 03 but not the silver one, in the catalog it says that the new tachs are only for 07 models, but I am not sure if that is because they have the 6th gear indicator or if it will not work at all. I would like to get one on my NT, as I already have the speedo and I like the look of the silver\brushed face.

I am an American and have no use for KM you heard me right 100mph and the wind screen is not going any where. i have buried my speedo had the bike over 120 MILES PER HOUR i did have thoughts of the windshield coming off at me but she stood fast and has proven its self. also it depends on if your riding into the wind or its behind you if you know what i mean ever go for a ride and its very nice one way but on the return its a little more rough that makes a big difference. I have the power and I will unleash it now and then I pick my spots. What's the use of having a motor built if your not going to use it, that would be a total waste of money just to say look what I got and also probably hurt the motor more so not blowing it out. With the cams I have 257's its mid to top end. I have no use for a tach that i have to glance down at to see especially at high speed. I have been riding 40 years now and i think i have a pretty good feel for shifting at high speeds I was pulling hole shots on my sporster at the ripe age of seventeen. its just my opinion i tried looking down to look at my speedo going through the gears and i am uncomfortable looking down at high speed i would like to see the tach in the windshield so i can look straight ahead and see it. also i think on the deluxe which has a nostalgic looking speedo it looks better without the combo tach. In reality there is very few spots when you can unleash the power and feel safe but every now and then the dumb kid surfaces and does them dumb things after all we are all kids at heart. As always that's my personal opinion to each his own I hate plaid shirts but they still sell.

Now for the dumb question on this subject. Do you start with no miles on the odometer after making the switch?

no when you order it they ask for your mileage if you order online, if not the dealer will send in your mileage when they place the order. It will come programmed with the mileage. I was off by 100 miles when it arrived. You see the mileage in the on a sticker in the pic of meter originally posted yesterday.
