Default 2018 Fatbob 114 burning oil?

So I now have 600 plus miles on this Fatbob. Checked the oil and noticed I’m about 1 qt low. Is this normal?

I haven't noticed any oil burning issues. 2000 miles on my engine.

Did you check the level before you put 600 miles on it. Perhaps that was the level from the factory.

Yes it was full when I got it home and the engine was hot. Will ride it for a while and check when hot once more.

Did you check it cold? If so that might be the issue. Not trying to insult but oil expands when hot.

No insult taken, I thought about that, but it’s barely touching the dip stick even when cold. Usually I get some oil on the stick

No oil usage on mine. Have you run it up in the revs high enough to help the rings seat? I know manual says to baby it, but a few higher rpm runs once warm helps. Steve Cole has commented on pitons being out of round letting oil by. Keep measuring until you confirm the usage rate for starters.

Try letting it idle on the side stand for a minute before you shut it off per the owners manual. Sounds like you need to add oil. I have found that a little below half way on the dipstick cold will put you at 3/4 of the way full when hot. Very consistent.

Check your transmission and primary. As for as I know the fluid migration issue is only bikes with hydraulic clutch such as the touring models.

Did the engine seem sluggish like perhaps you are experiencing sumping?

Isn't it "normal" for a new engine to use some oil during break-in until the rings get seated and everything gets mated nicely? Check to make sure it's not sumping then if it's not add some oil and keep a close eye on any consumption until your 1000 mile service. If it's using more than "normal" bring to the dealers attention at the time of service. Please note the use of quotations for the word "normal" because as we all know that's the standard answer from the dealer for anything your bike shouldn't be doing.
