Default Derby Cover

Is it really true that a Derby Cover for an 07 Deluxe won't fit an on 06? I am trying to find a gloss black Derby Cover for my wife's 06 and they are very difficult to find. There are gloss black for 07's all over the place.

Any thoughts?

The easiest way to solve your problem is to have your wife's derby cover painted or powder coated.

Personally I prefer powder coating.

I think the only differences will be;
  • Gasket change from the cardboard type to the orange coloured rubber seal
  • The back of the older Derby cover will be solid and completely flat.
  • The back of the newer Derby cover will be hollowed out and require the rubber seal.
Other than that I'm sure either cover will fit the primary case.

Gaz B is correct, only difference is the gasket.I put a RSD derby on my '16 SlimS,came with paper gasket,no issues at all,didnt even have groove for o-ring.

Are you saying that I would also need to purchase a new gasket or just buy an 07 derby cover and slap it on and im good to go?

I don't know what year they went to o-ring gasket but a cover that uses paper gasket will fit,you should always put on new gasket,cheap insurance.

Ok, so somebody I was going to have engrave a black derby cover for my bike gets his derby covers locally. This is what he wrote to me...........

"yup it will still work. Joel makes the derby with the o ring recess in the derby, but a traditional gasket will work also"

Does that sound like it makes sense?
