Default Heritage scraping floorboards

I am a new 2017 Heritage Classic owner. I have scraped my floorboards multiple times during turns. Does anyone else have this problem?

Are your shocks adjustable? Are your tires low on air?

I have also observed many people lean their bike over much further than necessary to make a turn or curve due to poor riding technique

Also keep in mind that bike is not meant to be ridden like a crotch rocket.

Very common with the Heritage or if you ride aggressive with any bike with floor boards you can scrape. I have done it with my 2013 Heritage and and my girlfriend does it alot with her 2004, she rides pretty aggressive, especially in the twisties in the NC mountains. As you probably know, floorboards flex up. You can decrease the scrapes by not so much lean angle on turns, maybe a little slower.

I did ride a crotch rocket about 25 years ago a few times, but I didn't think I was leaning that hard on my Heritage. I took a beginners riding course in September to learn how to take my turns properly. My husband has been riding behind me on his street glide and he said it didn't look like I was leaning too far over (like on a crotch rocket). But maybe it is my technique if no one else is having this problem!

Glad to hear it actually happens to others. I might be a little aggressive in my turns. I really have to try hard not to be. Has anyone heard of getting the floorboards raised? We compared the distance from the ground to the floorboards of my husbands 2017 streetglide compared to my 2017 Heritage and his were an inch higher off the ground. I think that inch would make a huge difference on mine.

It's not a problem, it's more of a warning telling you you are at your max lean angle. It's nothing to panic over.

I do it on my Limited from time to time. I even did it on an 18 Fatboy when I test rode it...fun times.

I don't know what boards cam on the Heritage but I put these on my Fatboy since they are thinner to clear a 2 into 1 exhaust an I think they give a little extra clearance too.

I think the Heritage and Deluxe are lower to the ground so scraping a floor board on these models is fairly common. I've only ridden a Heritage once at a Demo day and scraped the floor boards several times. A street glide has more ground clearance so it can be leaned over more without scraping.

If the boards are adjustable you might want to try raising them and then possibly modify your ridding and find the distance that you can lean over just before scraping.

The boards don't seem to be adjustable. It may be something that I can purchase new parts to make them higher but they do not adjust as they are now.
