Make sure you get an agm type battery. There is no reason in this day and age to get the old type that you have to pour liquid acid into and charge for a time before using.
Personally, I run an anti gravity lithium ion battery. Costs a lot of money for a battery but I like it.
Make sure you upgrade your cables while you are at it. I have Sumax cables and like them a lot.
Unless your Softail takes a different size than my 04, Hard to beat Walmart's AGM gel. Less than 1/2 of a Harley one but my last two have lasted over 4 years. Does need acid poured in and charged on a maintenance charger but it is a no vent true AGM absorbed glass mat battery.
Bought the Duralast Gold from auto zone last night, 102 plus 10 for the core charge, but will get that back tonight when i bring them the other battery. popped it in, put a new battery in the key fob, waited for it to sync up. Fired right up on the first try. Man i miss the sound of my bike. Supposed to be 61 on saturday, going for a iide before the cold comes back. Thanks for all the help!
all my sport bikes have li-po batteries...i have 5 different brands..shorai,alien motion, carbontech, and a couple others...never need tender and servicing plus more cranking amps...they dont like power draining accesories but i never have those anyways..my shorai is from 2008 and still going strong...i just purchased the bikemaster lithium-ion for the hd breakout...600 cold cranking amps with a digital volt reader buit in to battery...169.00 on ebay...****er cranked that harley 103 like it never has before...i swear the bike feels like it has more seat of the pants power!hd stock battery weighed in at 14lbs this bike master at 3.5 lbs...go figure
