You said you changed the switch. Was it the front or rear switch?

One of the switches took a crap. The rear one can fail and often does. But the front one is generally your mess up when the owner breaks it. Did you recently change the bars or move the hand controls?

In my experience, it is almost always the front brake lever that causes this. Here's an easy way to check. Remove the front brake lever. Inside the housing is a little button. Depress it. If the light goes out when you do this, you've found the problem.
There is a little tang on the end of the lever. Make a little extension by using epoxy, a piece of rubber, JB Weld, anything that will hold. This extension will depress the button when you release the brake lever.

Make sure the wires to the rear brake switch aren't frayed and grounded to the frame somewhere.

Check that the front brake lever returns fully.
If there’s a gap then the light will stay on.

Possible that the master cylinder grease has gone hard or dry causing the piston to stick.
You’ll do no wrong in giving the master cylinder a service, the kits are very cheap and it’s well worth a try given the age of the bike.

The front brake light switch is often broken or not positioned correctly for the front brake lever to make contact with it when a person swaps levers or handlebar. It is a small button slightly smaller than an eraser head. When the button is released, the circuit is closed and the brake light is illuminated. A misaligned lever will not depress the switch when the brake lever is released. This is a very common occurrence.

Most people only focus on the rear brake switch.

I'm kinda surprised so many have this problem (Front brake lever switch) my brother has this problem on his 2014 fat bob, it's a ongoing thing that really is miffing him off...
