Default Softail Slim Windshield

I have developed arthritis in my neck. I took a 4 day trip last year and after a couple of days my neck was killing me form the wind blast. I want to take a couple of longer trips this year but I am going to have to use a shield. I had a Memphis Shades on my Deuce, which was a nice shield but the buffeting was terrible. So I took it off and only put it on when I needed it.

So my question is what windshield should I get to reduce the strain on my neck and one that will have limited buffeting? I also want one that will work with a quick release system because I like an open bike for shorter rides and around town.

LRS products look like they would do a good job of deflecting the wind blast. Anyone have experience with these? They don't list one for the Slim. Are they pre-drilled or not so I could drill one to fit the quick release hardware I get, probably the Trigger Lock System?

I have also found that Memphis Shades make a booster wing? Has anyone tried one of these? Does it work?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am trying to keep the cost down for something that won't get used a lot. Thanks for any and all input.

I like the Rio Grande from Memphis Shades, I am also running fangs on my 2017 Slim.

I ran a LRS on my electra glide...it allowed me to run the shortest windshield with the most effect, that curve really helps kick the air over your head.

i also just bought a windshield from memphis shades. the riding position of the stock bars puts you forward and down on the bike. i raised mine up with 4" risers sitting me upright a bit more where i feel less strain on my neck but now more wind resistance on my chest... but the windshield will definitely help.

I fully understand the buffering thing. A lot of that depends on your height. I'm a bit of a shorter guy, 5' 7". Had a MS El Paso, on my Dyna LR, 15" shield . It worked out well for me.
My Softail slim has 17" shield, brand unknown, on it. My head bounces around like a bobble head doll. So I have to find something to get rid of that. Just trying to find something along the sport shield line that works. Probably have to go with the Rio. A little bit limited on the Slim. Not wanting to go the stock or Fat Series line.
I agree with on the risers. Too far forward can make a big strain on the back/neck, for any kind of distance.

I think your height matters too. how tall are you? I'm 5-11 and had a lot of success with the HD king windshield with fork fangs. I only get a little head shake if I sit up tall but I usually slouch and don't feel much of anything. I actually am selling both of those for cheap if you're interested, PM me.

I made a deal with Eric for his shield. Sent him the money via Paypal. He had already shipped it. What does that say about members here? Thanks Eric. Already have the small hardware bits ordered. I couldn't find those little mounts anywhere but with the part numbers piece of cake. The on-line official Harley site sent me to something else with all kinds of brackets. Thanks again.

The Klocked Werks windshield attaches on the HD “H” shield frame with QD.
IMHO it’s a major improvement over stock due to the wind swoop at top. Great on long rides!
