Streetbob18...what have you done to that bad boy so far? I went with a TBR stainless 2-1, Trask assault intake, saddlemen step up LS, woods cam, and some Roland sands grips and accessories. Waiting on the air cleaner still. Good suggestion with the buell. I think thats what hell go with lol
Hey mate
Sounds like you got some nice mods on yours so far
I've been studying this thread and I am lost. Are there issues with the new swingarms?
they limit/restrict some modifications that performance folks want. The stock swing are not faulty in any way that we know of and are fine if you stick within the limits.
the coming after market ones are gear toward performance folks that will be raising the bikes and other monkey business.
does not affect the average bear. The confusion is probably coming from the folks have responded with nonsense. I saw someone say something about a single sided swing arm. .. the has been no single sided swing arm mentioned. Nonsense... if it aint for them, it aint for them. That crab in a barrel stuff is lame. Folks cant conceive of powder coating or painting... heads can't get past what hd hands them. Disregard.
Upgraded swing arms are nothing new. You see them on performance builds on dynas, sportsters, and for things like wide tire kits on softies, vrods... etc

That don't sound 'lame' to me. Looks to be a well built swing arm for a stock bike. I know any one can build a better one, and some may want that. You or regionally called it Lame, that got my attention, Until this Thread I have never seen any bad info on the 18 swing arm. Glad to see you clarified your original statement.

they are lame for anyone wanting more. Like i said early on...if stock is your thing, knock yourself out. There is no reason to worry. The stocker will be just fine. That wasnt good enough. Folks just got their panties in a bloody bunch and tried to defend stock... even though i said stock was fine if thats your thing. Cant argue with ignorance. Let them stick to pretty grips and fantasy engine builds they'll never do. LOL.
mean swing arms are 100% normal, just not cheap so lots don't bother with them.

I just wonder what "performance" increase you actually gain from it? Because in all, these swingarms appear more bulky and the only thing they particularly change is the appearance. Which IMO is the real thing that HD enthusiasts object to...anything they consider "not right" on a harley. I liked the idea of a single sided swingarm on my breakout for a minute until I saw the price tag and realized that there is no specific gain in such a purchase aside from a "look how different my harley looks".

wider wheels 300+, lighter, stronger, alternative brake caliper mount, alteranative suspension mounts, longer drag applications, ... it depends on what you are building. Whatever you need.
