So yesterday was the big day, I got my vivid black 07 Deluxe! I have to admit I was a bit worried when I signed the papers and handed over that big check but after riding home I have NO worries what so ever anymore. All I have to say is WOW what an amazing machine! I absolutely love it. It rides like a lazy boy floating on a cloud yet some how handles better then my XL1200R did (except for the lean angles), It stops about as well even though it has 1 fewer brake disks and lets face it, it just looks so bad ***. These are very expensive motorcycles but once you own one you realize they are worth every penny. I got in about 60 miles last night and hope to get maybe 1-200 miles over the weekend, the MOST I ever did in a day the entire time I owned my Sportster was 80 miles in a day and that was with stops. I love this bike already!!!!!!!
the dealer was really good about everything, I woudl recommend American HD in Ann Arbor, MI (talk to Mike D.). I did have 2 issues, both they pointed out to me 1) the heat shield is damaged on the lower muffler and there are a few "scratches" on the right grip. They are replacing them free with labor, but are going to allow me to upgrade to Rush 2" slip ons and aftermarket grips and all I have to pay is the difference in price at their cost. Nice!
The stock seat isnt as bad as I had thought but it does make me slouch a bit depending where I sit on it. I think Ill just have someone scopp out some of the padding in the back part, add the Springer rail and backrest and I really think it'll be comfortable that way. I do see what you mean about the heat though, never had any heat issues on the Sporty, but I think its a small price to pay for such a fine machine. I havent noticed any wierd noises, or trans noises in 5th yet either. Thanks for all the advice everyone! Ill post up some pics tonight or tomorrow.
RE: My garage is complete, the 07 deluxe is home!!!
Chuck-
Congrats on the new ride & welcome to the Deluxe owner's gang! Regarding your comments on the stock seat, along with getting the backrest I would also recommend sending out to get a gel pad insert and memory foam. I sent mine to www.americanasoftseats.com. Never had a problem with back or butt pain since getting it refurbed.
