Hey, so i'm just getting the pieces together to do the 30t/70t conversion on my breakout, i've found a WICKED deal on an arlen ness contrast cut 70t pulley 1-1/8" 70t. so it'll be coming in the next week.
what else do I need for sure? my check list is as follows:
rear pulley spacer, 3/8"
rear pulley bolts
derby cover gasket
primary cover gasket
front pulley.
oil
anything else I am missing?
I'm also putting in a shift light at the same time, so that will have wiring run to pin 3? of the ECM
also, while i'm on the topic, derby and timing covers, they are all more or less interchangeable right? the only issue is bolt numbers?
also, for the front pulley, are they all the same, with the exception of the tooth count? can I use one from a sportster or street? there's some great deals on pulleys off of sportsters and streets, they look right, but I have no idea.
such as: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Pulle...%3A1#vi-ilComp
The front pulley is a real bitch to remove. Impact hammer wrench and heat. Many have resorted to drilling out the thin nut that holds the pulley in place.

Oh really? I watched a video on it, looked like they are just super tight, but should come loose with a Big enough breaker bar. I'm hoping mine should come loose pretty easily (relatively) as it's only a 2015.

I've been looking, found a few 30t pulleys for $50 but I can't find any parts compatibility info on them. All I have found is that the trike does work, nothing about others working or not. I can't find any trike pulleys on eBay right now.

Weezl,
Make sure this fits your bike. I have a 2013 Fatboy Lo and bought the transmission pulley from HDNewCastle Online.
It was part number HD-83595-11
$63.04 Brand new

Should fit, that's the part number I can find everywhere, but I have e no idea how to confirm if it will, or any of the other ones for that matter.

Special socket? I seem to remember from the videos I watched the front is just a t70 torq. Should be relatively cheap at my local princess auto (similar to harbour freight) if I don't already have one, I don't think I do though.
Does anyone know if this will fit? The price is right!

Here is a good thread on changing the front pulley. Different bike but process is the same. Also, your speedo and mileage will be off unless you can recalibrate.

The T70 is for the compensator. On the front pulley on the transmission, there is a long socket with a centering gizmo required to get that thin nut off the sprocket. It is very tight and will require heat or a strong impact driver to remove it.
