Default Throttle Cable Length?

What's up folks, new here and would like to say hello. Would also like to ask you all a question regarding my throttle cable. I recently had a new throttle cable installed. Normally I would have done it myself but I was getting married and had a lot of things going on so I had it done at a shop near where Iive. We took the Bike on our Honeymoon with no issues but I noticed that my throttle would only turn half way then would stop. Low and behold just before we reached home base the cable snapped. I have a strong suspicion that the "tech" installed the wrong length cable. I have the old cable but would like to know what are the thoughts as far as measuring cable length? Is it casing end to end or is the cable itself factored in? My Bike is a 1997 Softail Custom,Thank you for any input...

Cable manufacturers provide you with the size of cable needed based on the year and model of your bike. If you have custom bars then they have custom lengths and even options to order a cable at a length you specify. As you indicated your mechanic may have ordered the wrong cable? If you know the manufacturer and part number of the cable that broke then you should be able to cross reference it?

Barnett is my advice, not that I have worldly cable experience, I just like their USA made quality product and have had good experiences. I would ask for Colleen, she is a very nice and knowledgeable lady.

You would probably be fine with the recommended lengths for a stock bike.

I pull everything off and route the old cable and take the numbers for custom length cables. Measurement is shoulder to shoulder. Then there is throttle wire length that vary between carb and EFI.
