Default Harley Heritage fuel gauge problems.

2018 Harley Heritage fuel gauge PROBLEM. I Spent too much money on My 2018 to have Harley say they all have inaccuracies. That Is pure Bulls*#t! That's the mentality that will bankrupt them in the end. I've rented 2 Indians from Eagle Riders that were WELL rode, and everything still worked perfectly. That's probably why Harley bought them out. They didn't want anyone riding Indians for comparisons. And their 111 is still just as fast as my new 114 Heritage. So Harley listen up!!! FIX the problems!!!

People that join the forum just to rant about Harley don't fare well here.

A few things:
1. Harley-Davidson has been around for 115 years. They aren't going bankrupt anytime soon.
2. Harley-Davidson did not buy out EagleRider.
3. You can go to an Indian dealer to ride one for comparison. You don't need EagleRider for that.

My recommendation for you; Trade in your Heritage and buy an Indian.

By the way, you were so overcome by your tirade, you forgot to mention the problem you are having with your fuel gauge.

I, for one, would rather it gave me the reading of "you're out of gas!" when you're not...than the reverse. "Nah, skip that gas station...you've got pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeenty of gas."

All cars drive a bit differently. All bikes ride a bit differently. All vehicles have differences. So the gas gauge is going to read differently in such a small tank from machine to machine. Enjoy the ride. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Harleys have always been notorious for inaccurate fuel gauges. I never even look at mine. Use the trip odometer to know when I need gas.

I allways use mine...when it is getting down to a 1/4 tank I look for a gas station. I'm in Central Florida...gas stations a'plenty. At that point it never takes more than 3 to 3 1/4 gallons. Accurate, NOPE...but good enought to give me an Idea when to start looking. Haven't seen the low fuel light yet.

Hard to use the milage method when my riding habits fluctuate greatly. I go from getting close to 50 MPG (long highway rides) down to as low as 38 MPG (lots of hours doing PLP to improve my slow speed handeling skills). I also bounce back and forth from riding solo to 2 up, that also effect the MPG significantly.

I agree, instead of giving us info as to what the actual problem was, he just chose to join this forum so he could BM&G about something.

I agree Harley has been around 115 years. Rode my first two wheeled vehicle in 1960 when I was nine years old (Cushman Eagle). Bought my first Harley when I was in the Navy in 1972. Used. I knew what I was buying into. Bought first new Harley in 2006 (Heritage) Inherited my dads 2001 Harley Ultra converted to a Trike. Still have it. Coming up on 90,000 miles on it. Traded my 2006 Heritage on a 2018 Heritage. If I want to work on my bike I'll throw it on the bike lift as do so, if not it goes to the dealer. I think I can consider myself old school, but you know what? WE are not going to be around that much longer and these younger buyers are NOT going to deal with what we/I took as owning a Harley. THEY will expect it to work. I misspoke myself when I said Harley bought out Eagle Riders. They "MERGED" with them. Rented bikes in California and New Mexico. This year for the American Legion Riders Convention in Bellingham, Wa., I went to the closest Eagle Riders which was in Canada and ALL the had to offer was Harleys. HMMMMMM? I put over 750 miles on each of the Indians I rented. You can't go to any dealer and take one out for a 750 mile test ride. I WANT Harley to be around in the future. But I also want them to get their act together. By the way, The Harley dealer in Alaska now has a waiting list of riders awaiting new sending units. I have been waiting for a month. Its on BACK order. Wonder what that means?
