Default Changing brake fluid

Hi, I have a 99 heriage softail, Was wondering the best way to change brake fluid. What kind of tool do they use to remove the fill plugs on top of the forks. The chrome nuts. without damage to them. This will be my first time with the forks I think it uses dot 5. Anyone help thanks have 22,000 miles on the bike had it serviced once for the forks at least I think they changed fluid!

I dont know if you have a few words mixed up here, but the forks and brake fluid don't go in the same sentence. The nuts for fork oil can be removed with a large crescent wrench without damage to the chrome.

This will be my first time with the forks I think it uses dot 5.
I still think there is a wire crossed here. You are trying to change the FORK oil?

If so , I suggest to get a manual before you damage something or yourself too.

Also check your manual for the proper DOT brake fluid for your bike as the wrong one will damage the system.(probably DOT 4)

Yes I guess I screwed up here sorry about it. My mind was wondering about to many thing. I was asking about changing fork oil only. I have a manual from harley should I put bike on lift to extend forks is there spring presser when I remove filler nuts? So just a cresent wrench will do.Do I have to move handle bars to get at the filler nuts. Thanks again sorry about the mix up.

Ps I wasn't even drinkin! Rich

Softail shouldn't have much of any spring pressure behind the nut as long as it's up on a lift, just be carefull anyway. You should be able to get at the nuts without any trouble. It's close but not that close that you have to remove the bars.
