Hi Guys,
I brought a 2017 softail slim s and have been getting it ready for some touring. After buying the saddlebags, sissy bar, and everything else, I found out Harely are no longer selling the back rack (for some reason). This is probably the most important thing I need. Has anyone found a rack that fits on the softail slim s? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Assuming you are talking about a luggage rack, Motherwell makes one for the Softail Slim and Slim S, I have one on my 2017 Slim. I ordered mine through Dennis Kirk, you can probably find other places as well.
Motherwells are basically useless. I had one and removed it after a week.
It mounts directly to the fender in two places and the total load capacity is only 10 lbs.
They're primarily for looks only IMO.

I guess we've had different experiences with it then, as I've found mine quite useful, although to be fair I guess it depends on what your trying to carry. I do think that the manufacturer's stated 10 pound capacity limit is overly conservative, the thing can definitely handle more than that. Not saying its the best solution, but then again, there isn't a whole lot of options out there for the Slim without custom fabrication.
Thanks heaps. I checked it out but found that the sissy bar that Harley sold me doesn't have the holes for the rack to connect too. I think I'll have to speak with the local Custom guys and see if they will build me something. Thanks again
There's going to be a few shops around that'll have one still sitting on their shelves somewhere. Have your Dealer get on their Network and send out a queery looking for one. It may take a few days for a response but you'll find one.
So after re-reading the original post, is this HD rack what you are referring to ?
I used this version originally, but I found it took longer than I liked to remove, so that's when
I did the welded-on tabs...
Here's a really old picture with it installed
hth,
T.
That's super cool. Might be just what I'm looking for. I'm guessing with that set up you can take a bit more than the 10 pounds limit that HD have for the standard rack?
