FWIW.... On my '03 FLSTCI, the TSSM in mounted to a bracket, aft the battery, and between that metal bracket and a plastic fender piece. The fender piece protects it from water splashed by the rear wheel.
It's been awhile since I've looked at it, but I believe easiest access is to remove the rear wheel, then the plastic fender piece, and it will be right there. There is something else in that spot too, but I forget what...
