For those who have changed out their handlebars and needed a longer cable did you just change the top cable and stay with factory setup or change the whole clutch cable and go with old style adjustable boot?
I haven't done it yet but when the time comes I'd seriously think about going back to the old style if that's possible. I just don't like the Rube Goldberg setup the MoCo came up with. To me its a case of "it wasn't broke, why the he!! did ya fix it?".
I just changed the top piece. It's very simple. If you don't know how, there is a good video somewhere. But basically, you get a flathead screw driver and gently push the red tabs that are showing in the picture and it'll unlock and decompress spring and then you just push up on the the cable with the ball that's a part of the bottom half and de-couple it.
I don't know anything about the old cables since it was long enough when I changed bars on my previous 2013 dyna.

Was thinking along the same lines of replacing whole cable getting rid of that plastic "Automatic/Self " adjustment to a metal one and be able to adjust the clutch to grab where i want it to, not where you get what you get.

Just replace the top piece cheaper. Thats why the new cable was made. Im running a 5.5 riser and 2.5 bar all stock wires and cables on my 2018 fat bob.
