Default Not another one!!

Yes, another saddle bag question. I've read all the threads for a few years about putting saddlebags on a soft tail. I'm looking as a couple items to put on my 2009 Fatboy. I have Sampson true-duals so they are well below the axle/nut. Any experience with these products? Think it will fit good on my bike? After putting them on, the fender will be next, 4 or 5 inch extended, time to work on my welding skills since no one sells them.

Amazon Amazon

not sure if they would work or not but i found a softail conversion kit on amazon that came with chrome brackets, 4.5" stretched saddlebags (abs plastic) with lids for like $220. quality and fit is actually pretty decent believe it or not. waiting on them to get painted now, can't wait.

I have (well did have) one of those kits on my Deluxe.
This weekend I just swapped out the bags.
Sold the ones that came with the kit & installed Rushmore bags.

The one possible issue I can see (but your picture is the wrong angle to be sure) is the Fish tail tips.
Not sure how close they will come to the bags (without a better picture).

The longer fender (on my Deluxe) runs farther back, the bags follow it.
That would be my only concern (your pipes are under the axle so you should be good there).
Also consider getting some heat shield for the bottom of your bags (if you plan to or do long rides).
I have it on the bottom of my right side bag, works great to keep it & it's contents cooler.

I just looked. They’re no longer in stock. Says they’re not sure when/if they’ll be available again. I’ll keep my eyes open though. If you just punch in “softail conversion” on amazon they’ll come up.

There are dozens of manufacturers selling the hard bags in ABS with Lids and Hinges and the mounting kit for a Softail now.

Mutazu has made them for years and their bags are pretty good, plus they come painted Vivid Black or matte Black https://www.mutazu.com/products/harl...for-harley-h-d . or on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Saddle...frcectupt=true https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Saddle...QAAOSwhqVbIdOh https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Saddle...oAAOSw93ZasiWR https://www.ebay.com/itm/Saddlebags-...nd!94119!US!-1 just a few of the ones listed

I plan on finding longer fishtails. I am sure mine would give me problems. I figure mount the bags and new fender and measure to see how long I need. I don't want the ones that go way back, the 36 inchers if I can avoid it. Definitely want the extended bags with cut-outs.

I'm thinking of going with https://sscustomcycle.com/product/fa...d-rear-fender/ for a fender. I have wanted/looked for a steel one but I think I'm probably going to go with that one for now. Thank-you for the nudge in that direction Jake flstfb.
That is extended 4 inches, I wonder were the 5 inch extended bag will sit by it? I'd like them to be even if possible. Should I look for a 4 inch extended bag?
