Hey yall' I have a 05 Night Train looking to get a new seat. Right now i have a Mustang Run around, it sits super low which i like but boy is it uncomfortable after 25 plus miles. and suggestions for something more comfortable but still sits low and looks good. I want another solo seat, and I dont do many long trips often.
This may sound weird but is my experience. I have the dreaded Slim solo seat that everyone hates but I can go all day on it now.
Like you at first it would get uncomfortable after just a short distance. I have found the cause for me was cotton underwear. It keeps the sweat against your skin and causes hot spots. With breathable polyester underwear I'm good for a few hours now.
For all day trips I add a sheep skin custom cover. I just finished a 2000 mile round trip with this supposedly detestable seat with no problems, riding 400 mile days on back roads.
+1 on https://www.ccseats.com/, I plan on getting one myself when I save up a little more cash. They area bit pricey, but fully customizable. Including adding gel or memory foam. Also, Mean City Cycles here in NC has a good reputation. You mail them your existing seat and they customize it with your selected options (they have several), then they send it back. I've read many reviews from happy customers claiming that they can ride all day after a http://www.meancitycycles.com/ makeover. Good luck
Both of these guys do incredible work, I did the C&C for my Dyna, the seat was absolutely all day comfort for me, the passenger on the Sport Tour not so much, but I believe the memory foam upgrade and asking them to add an inch of thickness would've made all the difference. On my Heritage I wanted to keep the classic look so decided to send out the seat to Mean City, I had the memory foam option, due my height, I added 1.5 forward and 2 down, the seat is 100 times better then stock, and, I like the look better then a full on custom.
