ABS Scan Tool after bar install/ Brake line change
I'm in the process of doing a bar change on my 2015 CVO Deluxe. Having changed the upper brake line it says in the shop manual that the bike must be scanned with an ABS scan tool to make sure there is no air in the system. I was planning on just running like 16oz of fluid through the system with a brake bleeder vac kit to get the air out. What have some of you done in this scenario? Dealer trip? Bleed the crap out of it? Can you purchase the diagnostic tool? Thx in advance....
Bleed from the bottom forcing fluid up with a large syringe. If you don't get any air in the ABS module you don't need to scan. Did mine without issue..
How about one of those plastic squeezable picnic catsup dispensers with the tapered cap. Fill it with brake fluid attach a plastic or rubber line from the bottle to the brake bleeder then squeeze away. I would burp the bottle for air first.
Can you give an idea about what is used to do this and where you get the stuff from....Large syringe?
Picked one up at a veterinary & pet supply and a chunk of clear hose at an auto parts store.
I read about guys trying to bleed the normal way getting air into the ABS module and needing a trip to the dealership, decided not to chance it and bled up as others had done. Easy and no issues.

I have one of these. It works. I have successfully bled ABS brakes before without it but went ahead and purchased it so I wouldn't end up stuck if I accidentally got some air in the ABS unit.
